"The Nutcracker"
the ONLY Santa Cruz production with Live Orchestra

Enjoy our favorite Santa Cruz tradition!  Our eighteenth production with full professional orchestra at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.  Featuring special guest stars and alumni Melody Mennite and Lucien Postlewaite in the leading roles.  The 52-piece Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre Orchestra is conducted by Music Director Pamela Martin.  Follow THIS LINK to a Times Publishing Group article about our production, Music Director and Orchestra.   Over sixty local dancers perform choreography by Robert Kelley, Ron Cunningham and Flora Chatwin with sumptuous costumes and scenery.  Don't miss this chance to see the ONLY local production with LIVE ORCHESTRA and the original Santa Cruz production of this holiday classic story.

Saturday, December 21 performances at 2 pm and 6 pm
Sunday, December 22 performance at 1 pm

Additional special events: Sweet Treats Meet and Greet before the matinees for children of all ages - meet your favorite characters from the ballet (bring your camera) and receive a commemorative holiday ornament and cookie.  And introducing a Meet the Percussion Section event following the matinees where children will learn about and get to play some of the percussion instruments!  Add these special events on to your ticket.  Children must be accompanied by an adult, who attend for free.

Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre In Concert featuring The Jungle Book

Our annual mixed-repertory concert features a wide range of dance idioms, from classical to contemporary styles.  This season features the premiere of The Jungle Book, a new piece by guest choreographer Eva Stone and classics from the traditional repertoire.

Santa Cruz Symphony Children's and Family Concerts

Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre collaborates with the Santa Cruz Symphony in these fun, informative concerts which center around the orchestra, directed by Maestro Daniel Stewart.

The Ballet Alliance Festival

Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre participates in the annual Festival, this year to be held in Long Beach, California.  Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre will perform a work chosen by the Festival Artistic Director through an Adjudication process.  The Ballet Alliance offers our dancers a wonderful educational opportunity each spring.  Our dancers are seen by recruiters from the best professional companies, schools and college/university dance departments in the country.

Emerging Choreographers Showcase

A popular event which showcases tomorrow's choreographers.  In conjunction with The Studio School of Classical Ballet Student Demonstration.  Junior and Petite Companies will also perform.
