Lily Swan trained at The Studio, School of Classical Ballet from a young age and was a member of Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre Petite, Junior and Senior Companies.  As a member of the Senior Company, she performed featured roles in many ballets, including as the Dewdrop Fairy and lead Marzipan dancer in “The Nutcracker,” and as one of Two Swans in “Swan Lake Act II.”

She attended summer intensive programs at American Ballet Theatre in Austin, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam, Netherlands.  Lily sustained a serious foot injury her last year in high school, at which time she decided to end her pursuit of ballet career.

Lily is passionate about her new chosen art form Flow Arts and she has taken time to collaborate with other artists and grow creatively. She is grateful that her ballet training has enabled her to pick up many new pursuits. The skills she learned from ballet have transferred into flow arts, and she has been spinning fire for almost a year.  She’s been given opportunities to perform through flow arts, which is something she has missed while not dancing ballet.

Lily is uniquely qualified as an instructor at The Studio, having grown up with and mastered its syllabus from a young student through the advanced levels.  While a member of Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre’s Senior Company, Lily also participated in several summer Teacher Training Courses led by Diane Cypher, and worked as a substitute teacher for two years, sharing her love of dance with our young students.  She has taught Pre-Ballet and graded classes, including intermediate levels and pointe classes.
