For Immediate Release 1/20/2021

New Primary Class via Zoom

Get your young dancer ready to enter the Studio when we can offer in-studio classes to new students.

SCBT’s official academy is pleased to announce a new primary class via zoom for ages 7-9 years!  No experience necessary.

This class is scheduled for Wednesdays 3:15-4:00 pm starting Wednesday, January 27 and taught by Linda Lock.  This will be an introductory class at no cost to you to see if the concept works for you and your young dancer(s).

Prepare for Class

  • First class?   Please contact Registrar Sandy to enroll.
  • Download and test Zoom before your very first class - it is free to use & easy to use.
  • Think about the best place for your dancer to take class.  Your dancer needs enough room  to spread their arms and legs wide & twirl. A smooth floor surface is preferred, but carpet works okay if that’s the only option.
  • Set up is easy. Dancers will need a sturdy chair, countertop or other surface to use as their ballet barre.
  • What does your dancer wear? Class uniform or leotard (any color for now is fine), tights and ballet slippers. Hair in a bun.  Boys can be in snug-fitting shorts (like bike shorts) or tights, with a white t-shirt and ballet shoes.
  • Plan to join class a few minutes early. Once registered for class, you will receive an email with the details on how to join the class.

Before Class

  • Please “rename” yourself to show the student’s name on Zoom if needed.please change the name on the account for class to the dancer’s name so that Linda knows who she is addressing.
  • For the first class, we require a parent to be present for the first ten minutes.  This will allow Teacher Linda explain how to make sure the dancer’s camera is set up appropriately, and address any concerns.
  • For the next classes,  you will know how to make sure the camera is set up correctly, the microphone and speakers are working properly, and the dance space is set up without distractions like younger siblings and pets, and in place that is open to adequately move and enjoy class.
  • Use “Active Speaker View” to see the teacher’s video as large as possible. Here is more info from Zoom.

During Class

  • Camera should be on so the teacher can give feedback.
  • The instructor will let the dancer know when to mute themselves as class startsand they may need to know how to un-mute themselves as needed.

After Class

  • Thank you for joining our virtual class!.
  • Tell your friends! All ages and levels are welcome. Check out our other classes.
  • Questions or feedback?  Let us know. Send an email to Sandy@scbt.org
